ComparisonSociety apps vs neighbourhood apps: which do you need?
They solve different problems. MyGate, NoBrokerHood, ApnaComplex and ADDA are society-management software - visitor entry, gate passes, maintenance payments, staff attendance - adopted by a society's management committee and used inside one gated complex.
PadosXO connects everyone within 10 km of a pincode, regardless of housing type, and requires no committee to sign up. Many people use both.
Two different products with one shared reputation.
Almost everyone searching for a way to connect with their neighbours in India ends up comparing these apps as though they're alternatives. They aren't - picking the wrong category is the most common reason people install something and abandon it within a fortnight. One administers a building. The other connects an area.
Need visitor management? No neighbourhood app gives you that. Need to reach the shopkeeper on the main road? No society app can - he was never inside your gate.
What society apps do genuinely well.
MyGate, NoBrokerHood, ApnaComplex and ADDA are good at what they do - we'd rather say so than pretend otherwise. If your society has adopted one, you're better off for it.
Visitor & gate management
Pre-approved entries, delivery and cab authorisation, guest passes, gate logs. PadosXO has none of this.
Maintenance & accounting
Billing, dues, collection, society accounts and financial records. PadosXO has none of this either.
Domestic staff attendance
Entry and exit logging for household help, drivers and daily staff.
Official society communication
Committee notices, AGM circulars, polls and complaint tickets - with the RWA's authority behind them.
They only work if your committee says yes - and only inside the gate.
Society-management software is sold to societies, not residents. Someone has to propose it, the committee has to approve it, the society has to onboard. If your committee hasn't, or is mid-dispute, or your building has no committee at all, the category is simply closed to you.
And even where it's adopted, its boundary is the gate: the plotted colony across the road, the chemist on the main road, the tutor two streets away, the DDA block behind your condominium - all outside it, permanently. That boundary excludes a very large share of Indian housing.
Pincode-based neighbourhood apps.
PadosXO starts from the pincode rather than the gate. Register the pincode you live in, and your feed becomes everything within 10 km - across every kind of housing in that radius. Presence is verified by GPS, not a committee's member list: your device detected in your registered area on 7 of any 14 days earns Verified Local status, which permits you to post a safety alert.
- ✓Everyone within 10 km
Not just your building. Condominium, plotted colony, builder floor, DDA block, main-road shops - all of it.
- ✓No approval needed
No RWA, no committee vote, no maintenance account. You register yourself and you're in.
- ✓Eight kinds of post
Alerts, Ask Community, Buy/Sell, Requirements, Recommendations, Events, News and general Posts - each with its own rules.
- ✓Free for everyone
Residents, local businesses and service providers alike, with no paid placement anywhere in the app.
- ✓No gate features at all
No visitor entry, no gate passes, no maintenance billing, no staff attendance. A category difference, not a roadmap gap.

MyGate manages a gated society. PadosXO connects a pincode. MyGate handles visitor entry, gate passes, maintenance payments and staff attendance, and needs your management committee to adopt it first. PadosXO connects everyone within 10 km of your registered pincode regardless of housing type, needs no committee approval, and has no gate, visitor or maintenance features at all.
How to choose, in four lines.
Use a society-management app
MyGate and NoBrokerHood are the established options. PadosXO is not a substitute for either - we have none of those features.
That's the gap PadosXO fills
The two run happily alongside each other. One handles the gate, the other handles everything outside it.
Society apps are effectively unavailable to you
A pincode-based app is the only category that works - and that describes a very large share of Indian housing.
PadosXO doesn't need them to
That's the entire point of building on the pincode rather than the gate. You can be the only person in your building on it and still have a full feed.
What people ask when choosing.
What is the difference between MyGate and a neighbourhood app?
MyGate is society-management software: visitor entry, gate passes, maintenance payments and staff attendance, adopted by a society's management committee and operating inside one gated complex. A neighbourhood app such as PadosXO connects residents across a geographic radius - typically a pincode - and requires no society or RWA to sign up first. PadosXO has no gate, visitor or maintenance module, which is a difference in category rather than a missing feature.
Is PadosXO an alternative to MyGate?
Not for society management. If you need visitor entry, gate passes, maintenance billing or staff attendance, PadosXO does not offer any of it and MyGate is the better tool. PadosXO is an alternative in a different sense: it reaches the area outside your gate, which no society app covers, and it works without your committee adopting anything. Plenty of residents use both.
MyGate vs NoBrokerHood - which is better?
Both are established society-management platforms with substantially overlapping feature sets covering visitor management, maintenance and communication. The right choice usually comes down to what your management committee has already evaluated, pricing at your society's scale, and the quality of local support - it is a committee-level decision rather than an individual resident's. Compare current feature lists and pricing directly with each vendor.
Can I use PadosXO if my society already has MyGate?
Yes, and it's a common combination. They don't overlap much: your society app handles the gate, visitors, maintenance and committee notices, while PadosXO covers the 10 km around you - the shops on the main road, the plotted colony opposite, service providers nearby and residents of other buildings. Neither requires you to stop using the other.
What if my society doesn't have any app?
Then PadosXO works anyway, which is precisely why it's built on the pincode. Society-management software has to be adopted at committee level before any resident can use it. PadosXO is registered by individual residents, so you can be the only person in your building on it and still have a full feed - because that feed is drawn from a 10 km radius rather than from your building.
Are society management apps free?
Typically not - they are usually paid products licensed by the society, with the cost often absorbed into maintenance charges rather than billed to residents individually. Pricing varies by society size and feature tier, so check directly with each vendor. PadosXO is free for residents, local businesses and service providers, with no subscription, listing fee or commission.
Does PadosXO have visitor management or gate passes?
No. PadosXO has no visitor entry, gate pass, maintenance billing or staff attendance features, and none are planned - those belong to society-management software, which requires integration with a society's guards, gates and accounts. If you need them, use a society app. PadosXO is for the neighbourhood beyond the gate.
Which app is best for a plotted colony or builder floor?
A pincode-based app, because society-management platforms are designed around a single managed gate, shared maintenance accounts and a management committee - none of which usually exist in plotted colonies, builder floors or independent houses. PadosXO connects residents by pincode radius rather than by building, so all of these are covered on the same terms as a gated condominium.
Society apps and neighbourhood apps are not competitors.
MyGate, NoBrokerHood, ApnaComplex and ADDA are society-management platforms. They handle visitor entry, gate passes, maintenance billing, staff attendance and official society communication, adopted at management-committee level, operating within the boundary of a single gated complex. For running a society, they're the right tools, and PadosXO is not an alternative to them - it has none of those features.
PadosXO is a pincode-based neighbourhood app. Residents register a home pincode and see everything within a 10 km radius across every housing type in that area, with no RWA or committee approval required. Presence is verified by GPS over 7 of any 14 days, and only verified residents can post safety alerts. Free for residents, businesses and service providers, live across 135 pincodes in Delhi, Gurugram and Noida. The two categories overlap very little - using both is entirely reasonable.
Try the one your committee doesn't have to approve.
Register your pincode and see what's happening within 10 km. Keep using your society app for the gate.
